This works talks about the role of tradition today in Iceland, especially in its most isolated areas, surrounded by untouched and dominant nature where humans have gradually built their own identity. Men and women are inspired by ofter extreme, opposing values, but both are looking for the same sense of belonging. The relationship with animals is an example : dominant and a symbol of masculinity for men, almost sacred and celebratory for women. The religious side and the different ways of relating to death complete the cyclical nature of this story, in which people end up becoming prisoners of the very traditions they identify with.
